The current planning module is provided as a pilot in beta mode and by
means of an integration with a 3rd party service. The features supported
are those described in this Knowledge Base section only - additional
functionality may be able to be provided on a case by case basis.
Inventory policies are set in the “Inventory Policies” sections which can be found either in the main application menu (“Policies & Parameters” item, “Inventory Policies” sub-item) or in a drill down from the “Projection Detail” tab of the “Planning view”.
The minimum and maximum desired inventory levels for an item can be calculated by the system based on a specified number of days of supply – “DOS” rule - or can be manually entered by the planner – “Unit” rule.
Once the desired rules have been selected using the “Rules” tab, specific quantities should be entered using the “Input Units Requirement” tab and/or the number of days of supply should be entered using the “Input Days of Supply Requirement” tab.
The “Generate New Inventory Policy” button will calculate the minimum/maximum levels according to the specified rules and parameters. The results can be visualized on the “View Projected Results” tab as you can see in the below snapshot:
The “Proposed Minimum” and “Proposed Maximum” components show the calculated levels, and the “Published Minimum” and “Published Maximum” components show the inventory levels currently used for the inventory projection calculation.
If the proposed levels are not deemed adequate the planner can go back to make changes to the rules/parameters and regenerate the inventory policy. Once the proposed levels are deemed adequate the planner can click the “Publish New Inventory Policy” button to make the policy take effect and recalculate the inventory projections accordingly. The “Generate and Publish New Inventory Policy” button can be used to generate and publish the policy in one step review/tweaking is not required.
