Zero slack in the finished good
If a BoM has no slack in its finished good, you can receive quantity based on allocations without considering raw material slack.
For example, for this BoM there is no slack in the finished good.
Let's say we have a Production Order with 1 ordered quantity.
To receive 1 unit of the finished good, you must allocate at least 1 unit of each material.
After that, you can return the slack quantity of allocated raw materials (for this example 0.5).
β
The system needs at least the required quantity to receive the finished good.
So the process would be:
allocate the required raw material quantity to receive 1 unit of finished good
received the finished good
return the slack quantity of the raw materials
Note that it is not possible to return the entire quantity of raw material with any slack definition.
β
Non-zero slack in the finished good
If there is a defined slack percentage in the finished good, you can receive more (based on the slack) than is available based on allocations.
For example, for this BoM with slack in the finished good, you can receive 100% more finished good based on the raw materials allocated.
