If Serial Numbers are used for a product that uses Serial Numbers, all Serial Numbers have to be added in the same row of the product, separated by comma in the same column (the serial numbers column).
It is required that the number of Serial Numbers must match the number of the Physical Count quantity (physical count quantity is column G in the example below).
For example, if you are increasing quantity of a SKU -that uses serial numbers- from three (3) to five (5) units (an increase by two units), then, you should enter five (5) comma separated serial numbers under the serial number column. Three (3) serial numbers must be existing serial numbers and should reside in the inventory location that the inventory taking operation is taking place. Two (2) serial numbers must be new.
If you are decreasing quantity of a SKU -that uses serial numbers- from five (5) to three (3) units (a decrease by two units), then, you should enter three (3) comma separated serial numbers under the serial number column. These three (3) serial numbers must be existing serial numbers and should reside in the inventory location that the inventory taking operation is taking place.
To upload the file, the user should follow the same procedure as in the Initial Quantities case. After uploading the file in the account, the system creates two documents: an Adjustment Plus to increase the Megaventory quantity to match the quantity of the physical count and an Adjustment Minus to reduce the Megaventory quantity to match the quantity of the physical count.
Special Case: In case a product that is now serialized has initially (in the past) been created as not a serialized product, then, all the units that are currently in inventory for that product must be related to a serial number. This can be done by visiting the Products page and by clicking the serial number icon, next to this product. If at least one unit of such a product is not related to a serial number then, this product cannot be included in an adjustment document.
- The user permissions for the Inventory Taking module are inherited from the Documents (Inventory Transactions and Invoices) module.
- Note also that in case of existing unit cost values these will be included in the downloaded spreadsheet if the requesting user is an admin only.
